PLANNING THE NEXT 24 HOURS:The severe weather threat is over for the Madison viewing area. There are a few lingering heavier showers behind the severe thunderstorms we saw overnight that will continue into about mid to late morning. There were a few wind damage and wind gust reports across southern Wisconsin, two of which were in Dane County. Several areas saw 1-2" rainfall rates an hour. Because we saw a lot of heavy rain overnight, there could still be some standing water on some roadways. Skies will start to clear in the afternoon and especially evening as temperatures only warm to 70 degrees today. It will be breezy with wind gusts around 15-20mph. Tuesday night under mostly clear skies temperatures will fall much more, most of southern Wisconsin will drop into the upper 50s.
EXTENDED FORECAST: High pressure will dominate allowing for dry and cooler conditions the next several days. Skies will remain partly to mostly sunny. The upcoming weekend is looking pleasant and dry right now, with the next chance of active weather returning early next week.
