down part of a neighborhood in the east bay. residents left in the dark for hours after hearing a terrifying noise. >> there was a bunch of screaming afterwards. two kids are some ladies were screaming, and that's about it. >> that shooting ended with one person killed. this afternoon in fremont. the area was only cleared in the last two hours. good evening. i'm cristina rendon. we are learning new details about this incident tonight. it started at around 120 this afternoon. fremont police were called to a shooting near nichols avenue and blaisdell way, not far from highway 238. there, officers found a man who had been shot. neighbors described what they heard just before police arrived. >> i just heard a gang load of gunshots just just, you know, rounding off, you know, and they kind of it was like a pause in the middle and then like, maybe

not yet clear how the patrol car was damaged in the chase. daly city police were not available for comment. in oakland, joey jorda ktvu, fox two news. >> and another car crash tonight. this one across the bay in san francisco. sfpd says four people are now in the hospital after officers on patrol saw a car crashed into two other cars near van ness and mcallister, right near city hall. it happened around 730 today. citizen app footage here showing officers treating one of the two men who had been hit by the driving car, or who had been driving the car, rather. sfpd says both men are now in custod, and you can see in that video there how damaging that car crash was. car doors mangled debris littering the streets, the three victims and one of the suspects are currently hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. dozens of firearms are now off off the streets in oakland following today's gun buyback event. guns to gardens and the oakland police department hosted this event at mount zion baptist

or international package getting intercepted. these drugs, suspected to be fake fentanyl pills, were found at a home in novato. this was after homeland security busd a package from the uk with fentanyl inside, which was headed to the same home. the street value of these pills is between 45 and $50,000. detectives also see suspected cocaine, ketamine, amphetamines, sicilian mushrooms and heroin. two people living at that home were arrested on several drug charges. the search for a missing elderly man has come to an end. san francisco police say 76 year old kelly gast, who was last seen at his home in san francisco last sunday, was found this afternoon in marin county. police are thanking the marin county sheriff's department and marin county sheriff's search and rescue team for helping in the search. the man's cause of death has not been announced. in concord, police are asking for the public's help locating this missing man. 35 year old ryan penaloza went missing at about 830 last night from a home on

rate of spread. 50 buildings are currently being threatened. caltrans closed route 20 east of clearlake oaks at route 53, in lake county due to that fire. there's no estimated time of reopening, cal fire says several crews, engines, dozers and helicopters are working to put out the fire. around 300 people are working at the scene right now. a small fire that broke out in placer county yesterday prompted evacuation orders. the lehi fire started near the community of new castle. only nine acres burned, but there are

many homes in that area, according to cal fire. this fire, started by someone who was lawn mowing in dry grass and in san joaquin county, multiple structures were burned in the liberty fire. cal fire says this one first started around 2 p.m. yesterday and burned more than 100 acres. at one point, flames completely covered homes in that area. it is unclear how many structures burned, but more than 600 customers lost power that fire is 50% contained tonight. down south, the fork fire is burning in the san gabriel valley of los angeles county. it started yesterday afternoon and has already burned 300 acres. reporter gina silva spoke with families who were forced to evacuate that area while they were camping. >> a lot of smoke coming like this, coming like this. so after that, everything is white. >> a raging brush fire in the angeles national forest above glendora, dubbed the fork fire, has forced the evacuation of dozens of families who were on a camping adventure.

breathing problems are urged to stay indoors, with the windows and doors closed until the air quality improves. pg and e has shut off power to about 220 customers in alameda county, contra costa county and san joaquin counties, all due to dry and windy conditions. 96 customers in alameda county, 62 in contra costa and 56 in san joaquin county are affected. earlier, pg and e said it may need to shut off power to thousands of customers in the bay area and central valley. the agency says all of the impacted customers should have their power restored by tomorrow morning. >> and in weather, you could definitely notice a bit of that haze in the sky throughout the day. today the air quality advisory in place. we should have some improvement for tomorrow. and of course, as you heard the fire starting up in portions of the lake county and colusa counties earlier this afternoon, it started at 426. and this was the camera earlier this afternoon. rapid growth. we take a look at the ridge fire. right now. you can see the where

the fire is burning temperatures 78 degrees. i will say temperatures earlier this afternoon, especially for the inland spots, you know, is hot in this area right around 100 degrees winds, a bit of a breeze gusting to 32 miles an hour. one nice element is that relative humidity. those moisture levels have been creeping up and that's a good at least that will help the fire crews overnight as we get increasing moisture levels. another hot day inland, not as hot as yesterday, but still some triple digits to report. you can see antioch 100 degrees concord earlier today, 96, san rafael 91 and san jose in the 80s. we get a break tomorrow, but look what happens. the heat wants to make a comeback from monday, tuesday and wednesday we have an excessive heat warning to talk about temperatures up above the average hottest day is scheduled to be on tuesday. here's the satellite and the radar. and as you can see throughout the day, some showers and thunderstorms. all these lightning strikes over portions of the sierra right around lake tahoe. earlier today. also, right now we have low clouds and fog developing near portions of our coastline.

the family of a man who was killed last year while driving his tesla on autopilot, claims the automaker misrepresented the capabilities of its technology. tesla is also dealing with several other lawsuits, legal action and investigations on state and federal levels related to the autopilot system, which does not automatically pilot a car. three women were arrested for theft in the east bay, pleasanton police say last week, an officer found a parked car that had been reported stolen. three women were detained when they loaded shopping bags into that car. detectives say the bags were full of stolen merchandise from lululemon, worth more than $5,800. all three women were arrested and taken to santa rita jail. well, despite more than 22,000 new jobs created in california last month, the state still has a comparatively high unemployment rate. new data shows california's unemployment rate last month was 5.2. this was unchanged from may and higher

has gifted a total of 160,000 backpacks to local students. a bacterial outbreak in deli meat has caused sickness and even death in a dozen states, the centers for disease control says two people have died and at least 28 others have been hospitalized from an outbreak of listeria allegedly stemming from deli meat across 12 states. there's no direct evidence that packaged deli meats were what made people sick from the bacteria. however, sick people's samples were collected between may 29th and july 5th. 16 of the 818 sick people said they had eaten deli meat. the cdc says to not eat meats sliced at any deli counter unless reheated to at least 165 degrees, or until steaming hot. a proposed new car could change the way downtown san francisco looks. we'll take a sneak peek at the plans for that green space and check this out. a full moon out tonight. this beautiful shot coming from

renderings of a park this week that would replace the current embarcadero plaza. right now, the plaza is lined with brick and features the modernist vaillancourt fountain. developers plans would add more green space to that area, which they say would connect residents, office workers and others to the waterfront. san francisco mayor london breed supports plans for this new park. today, she released a statement saying the embarcadero, a cornerstone of our city's history, is poised for a transformation. we are going to convert this plaza space into a vibrant, beautiful waterfront park. this project is

>> well, so far in this july, we have been dealing with a lot of heat, especially for the inland spots. we cool things off tomorrow, we get a break and then the heat makes a comeback into early next week. of course, today though, if you looked outside, you probably notice a bit of some haze and some of that wildfire smoke drifting over the bay area. and as a result, we have the air quality advisory. we should have some improvement tomorrow in your sunday forecast. but here's what's heading back to our forecast. and that is the heat for monday, tuesday and wednesday, especially inland, will be topping 100 degrees. so an excessive heat warning to talk about temperatures up above the average and the hottest day probably on tuesday. but wednesday is still a hot day as well. you can see the areas under the heat advisory in yellow. the heat warning that's the real hot forecast in the areas in red. so the heat, the heat warning in place for the east bay valleys, the east bay hills, the heat advisory for the north bay, the santa cruz mountains and the santa clara valley. notice this is not in place for san francisco or right around the bay shoreline. so this is for monday, tuesday and into wednesday. here's a satellite and the radar today.
